Text Box: INTRODUCTION:
The latest training technique in the military is the use of model and simulations to train both collective and individual skills.  The military aims to take advantage of the gaming industry when it comes to both training and recruiting.  For example, over 73% American Teenagers surf the WEB each week.  Potential candidates can download free games from a military service, and explore career options.  The military served as a front runner in the simulations community, when it introduced such games as JANUS and TACOPS in the early 1980’s; however, today with improved technology and the widespread use of computers and games in every household, the military seeks to capitalize on this opportunity.  Furthermore, the military looks to join effort with commercial industry in order to minimize its research and development costs.  Microsoft spent nearly $2 billion in the development of XBOX, this exceeds the Army's annual $1.6 billion budget in Science & Technology Department.  The military developed the Institute of Creative Technology at the University of California. This department joins the effort of the defense and commercial industries.  This website explores the use of models and simulations training throughout all services within the military.
